The Sandbox is a virtual world where players can build, own and monetize their voxel gaming experiences on the Ethereum blockchain, using NFTs and our main utility token $SAND.

We are building a deeply immersive gaming virtual world metaverse where creators get the chance to make games next to gaming giants and brands such as Atari, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Care Bears, The Smurfs, Shaun the Sheep, and more gaming partners.


About The Role

We are seeking a talented, enthusiastic, and creative individual to join our team as Technical Animator.

In the role of Technical Animator, you’ll work with the animation and engineering teams to devise solutions and workflows, improving the existing tools and developing new ones. Your analytical ability and planning skills will help the studio identify requirements and design solutions to support new types of gameplay.

As a Technical Animator, you will be supporting the needs of the animators by ensuring they have the tools they need to do their jobs. As well as pushing the animation fidelity, you will be controlling the animation pipelines on our games to help us achieve stunning results, whilst keeping efficiency at its peak.


Responsibilities

  • Work close to the Head of Animation to understand the animation roadmap and provide necessary tools for the pipeline.
  • Review game design concepts and support the game vision with solutions for the new upcoming features.
  • Review game design concepts + identify and analyze risks (Voxedit, GC, memory, Dashboard, frame rate, etc.)
  • Improve existing content creation tools and pipelines based on both current and long-term needs and requirements.
  • Support animators, game designers, and riggers with their technical needs + informatively and constructively explain the root causes of risks, blockers, etc.
  • Making the bridge and sync up between the different teams involved in the animation pipeline (Voxedit, GameMaker, Content)
  • Identify technical requirements and tools to deliver on the game vision.
  • Design and guide the UX for the animation tools in service of the broader animation community.
  • Write and maintain documentation, where applicable, and test new tools.


Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience as a technical animator on shipped titles.
  • A deep understanding of modern content creation tools and workflows: rigging, skinning, and animation.
  • An excellent understanding of game-engine fundamentals, especially related to animation systems architecture.
  • Expert knowledge of industry-standard 3D animation packages such as Maya.


Nice-to-haves

  • Background in computer science, programming/scripting experience.
  • Experience with motion capture, and procedural animations.
  • Content optimization experience.
